[Note: Adapt any of these participation suggestions to Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr or other Social media venues.]
1.) Put together a display...be creative! (Perhaps utilize the display case at a local library, church, school, etc. At a library, a display of books [fiction and nonfiction] with name themes would be good; at a church, names relevant to its teachings would be good; in a school setting, let students be creative in suggesting ideas. Maybe you have a bulletin board at home or work...decorate it using your imagination and a names theme.)
2.) Draw or paint your name(s) as artistically as you can. Go wild! After all, it's your personal celebration of you!
3.) Have a naming contest. Decide something to name and vote for the most creative name. Award a little prize.
4.) Write a story about a pet whose name comes to mind (whether your pet or someone else's).
5.) Online: Use a search engine to search for "name generators" and have fun discovering new names for yourself!
6.) Discuss the most interesting or curious name you've ever heard, and/or write a story about it.
7.) Discuss or write about what you'd have named yourself, if you'd had the choice.
8.) Speculate (verbally or otherwise) about what you'd change your name to, if you were to change it.
9.) Practice signing your name as an autograph...you're famous in your own special ways!
10. Using the letters of your first name, find words to describe yourself (e.g., Mary = Magnificent, Artsy, Realistic, Young).
11. Do some names research online, in a library, etc. (Perhaps see if you can determine who has the world's longest name, etc.)
12.) Learn "The Name Game" (Sing It!)
The Name Game by Shirley Ellis
Shirley, Shirley, Bo Birley
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Firley
Fee, Fy, Mo Mirley
Lincoln, Lincoln, Bo Bincoln
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Fincoln
Fee, Fy, Mo Mincoln
Come on everybody
I say now let's play a game
I betcha I could make a rhyme
Out of anybody's name
The first letter of the name
I treat it like it wasn't there
But a B or an F
Or an M will appear
And then I say Bo, add a B
Then I say the name
Then Bonana, Fanna, and a Fo
Then I say the name again with an F very plain
Then a Fee, Fy, and a Mo
Then I say the name again with an M this time
And there isn't any name that I can't rhyme
Arnold, Arnold, Bo Barnold
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Farnold
Fee, Fy, Mo Marnold
But if the first two letters are ever the same,
Drop them both then say the name
Like Bob, Bob, drop the B's Bo Ob
Or Fred, Fred, drop the F's Fo Red
Or Mary, Mary, drop the M's Mo Ary
That's the only rule that is contrary
Now say Bo (Bo!)
Now Tony with a B (Bony!)
Then Bonana, Fanna, and Fo (Bonana Fanna Fo!)
Then you say the name again with an F very plain (Fony!)
Then a Fee, Fy, and a Mo (Fee Fy Mo)
Then you say the name again with an M this time (Mony!)
And there isn't any name that you can't rhyme
Everybody do Tony
Tony, Tony, Bo Bony
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Fony
Fee, Fy, Mo Mony
Pretty good. Let's do Billy
Billy, Billy, Bo Illy
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Filly
Fee, Fy, Mo Milly
Very good. Let's do Marsha
Marsha, Marsha, Bo Barsha
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Farsha
Fee, Fy, Mo Arsha
A little trick with Nick
Nick, Nick, Bo Bick
Bonana, Fanna, Fo Fick
Fee, Fy, Mo Mick
